Dr. Tariq Aftab has been awarded Dr. DS Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship from UGC, New Delhi. Earlier, he has received prestigious Leibniz-DAAD Research Fellowship (2012-13) from Germany to carry out advanced research in the field of Plant Molecular Biology.
As per fellowship scheme, he has been appointed as Guest Scientist at Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research, Gatersleben, Germany. Besides, he also worked as Research Associate at National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, New Delhi before going to Germany.
He did his PhD in Botany under the mentorship of Dr M Masroor A Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Botany, AMU, Aligarh. He focused on anti malarial plant (Artemisia annua) during his PhD. He has presented his work, related to Radiation mediated technique and various PGRs, in several national and international conferences and was able to draw huge appreciation of the plant scientists worldwide.
Dr. Aftab has edited a book "Artemisia annua " Pharmacology and Biotechnology" which has been published by Springer-Verlag, Heidelberg, Germany.
